Systems Support
You knew it was going to be a bad day
when your e-mail didn't work.
Server not found, i/o error, blue screens, illegal operations,
insufficient memory to run x. You've got a deadline and the computer
doesn't care. You have to get to work and the computer won't cooperate.
The effect is universal, the cause may not be so universal.
If your computer is misbehaving, here are a couple of tips to follow
before
you call the tech support guys:
1. Make sure all of your power cords and
other connectors are firmly seated. You do
this by grasping the connector in question
and pushing it towards the receptacle where
it is inserted.
2. Restart your system. If your mouse has
stopped responding, try pressing the window
key (between Ctrl and Alt to the left of
your space bar) then use your down arrow
key to get to Shut Down and press enter then
the letter R to get restart. If your keyboard
has stopped responding as well you can press
the power button to turn your system off,
on newer systems you may have to hold the
button in for up to ten seconds before the
system powers off.
Let the system rest for about 15 - 30 seconds then power it back on.
There is a good chance your system may check the disk, then windows will
start and things will work normally.
If these tips don't get you going again, you can reach us at 620-342-7045
and we can try a few other things.
